Why do I need a hard copy of a book

The concept of soft copy of a book or a novel is quite handy and fascinating, even though it is very queer to me. I would always prefer a HARD COPY.

Well, we always read books even when the electronic gadgets ruled over everything, books just remained books. As kids the pictures entertained us and as we grew old, even though the books became picture less –the comfort of holding books become strangely familiar. Holding the books with gaps of the finger feels like holding the content of the novel. Turning the pages to read through what we already read is such a pleasure.

About position – to be able to change position is so important. Lying flat on the back just raising the head a little bit and read the mesmerizing beauty of ‘Elf land’ of Lord Of the Rings, or lie flat on the stomach to read through the agonies of Miss Eliza Bennet of the Super Classic of all time Pride n Prejudice. Sit straight up to read through the twists of Jeffrey Archer or Sidney Shelden. Where could you get the feel of the letters of Daddy long Legs but in a book? Choosing the lonely corner to read about sensual Mr. Grey.

Able to fold the corner of the page when its time to take a break. Sitting under a tree or on the terrace under the open sky and turn the pages uncountable number of times, holding the book on the lap and able to position it in any direction and hold it in several ways, holding the book in our hand when we fall asleep – where could we do such a thing with a soft copy?

When we read through the novel and at one point we become the part of the story and the friends become our friends and the enemies our enemy, then when it ends and we can no more turn the pages, we feel so lost like missing some friends or relatives – then the hard copy is like the photo album of sweet memories. A treasure box, which we can open at any time and flicker through the pages and read through the favorite part again and again. Just the cover of the book is enough to give us the comfort and feel that it’s with us, still.

Old fashioned you may say but if I have to read a book or a novel, scrolling is not my cup of tea. I need a hard copy.
